Welcome to our Prayer Page. Below are a handful of prayer requests that I am passionate about and want to share with you. Check back regularly for updated prayer requests. Thank you, Prayer Warriors, for your faithful prayers for our denomination, for the Spiritual health of our communities, churches, and nation, and for your prayer support of my family and me.

Prayer Request 1: The 2015 Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting

I have called every pastor, every church leader, and every church layperson to take part in the 2015 Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting in Columbus, Ohio, June 16-17, 2015. During this important two-day gathering, our denominational leaders and messengers will be conducting business and planning for the future, but more importantly, we will all be praying for our denomination, our churches, and our country.

Please join me in praying for our upcoming time in Columbus, and that Southern Baptists across the country will acknowledge the importance being in attendance.

Prayer Request 2: The next Great Spiritual Awakening

I’m asking God daily for the next Great Spiritual Awakening to happen amongst the people, churches, and entities of the Southern Baptist Convention, and I’d like you to join me in this powerful prayer request. I believe that God will move mightily among those who join me in this ardent prayer. I truly believe that our emphasis of praying for the next Great Spiritual Awakening in America will result in God doing wonderful things — things that we can’t even imagine — within our churches and nation.

Prayer Request 3: For me, and my work in the coming months

The greatest thing you can do for me is to pray for me. Please do not undervalue this. This season of life is both challenging and exciting. I am blessed to lead the Southern Baptist Convention and Cross Church, but that does coming with challenges. These next few months are going to be very challenging and special. Please pray for my spiritual health, my physical health, and for all of the projects and issues that I will be addressing. Pray that my thoughts, words, writings, and actions be Kingdom minded. There is no greater need I have than prayer.
