Getting Things in Order to Expose and Expel False Teaching Part 2

Pastor Floyds 2nd part from the sermon on Exposing and Expelling False Teaching, from the series Getting Things In Order

$6.00 — $12.00

If you would honor the Lord in the reading of His Word, I’m going to ask you to stand with me in the first chapter of Titus, reading verse 10 through verse number 16.  The Bible says, “This is why I left you,” no, that’s not.  It says, For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party. They must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for shameful gain what they ought not to teach. One of the Cretans, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.”  This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, not devoting themselves to Jewish myths and the commands of people who turn away from the truth. To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.”

The problem lies in two areas in Crete.  It lies in false teachers, and it lies in false teaching.  Paul did not pull any punches at all when he gave a descriptive list of things that denoted these who were teaching falsely.  I want to remind you of a few of these he called them.  He called them liars; you see this in the same passage we read a moment ago.  He called them lazy gluttons, evil beasts, meaning demonic.  Empty talkers, dishonest, deceivers, unfit, disgusting, disobedient, defiled, unsaved, and he also called them insubordinate.

When a teacher is unwilling to be under the authority of the church in their teaching, that teacher forfeits his right, or her right to teach.  I do not think that it was just by happenstance if you may that the Apostle started with insubordination here.  I believe it was very intentional because when a person is outside the authority of the church, then all of the rest of this stuff ends up happening if it’s a true Bible church.

Have you ever thought about it?  It doesn’t matter whether it’s government, church, family, or business, when you operate outside of the authority that is over us, then when happens is we are making ourselves available to the influence of the demonic upon our lives.

Also in this passage you see that Paul calls the false teaching that existed that it needed to be exorcised from the church.  These false teachers, according to the Scripture, were teaching that Jesus was not enough.  And that’s why they believed that you needed to be circumcisized in order to be saved, that Calvary was not sufficient.

They also believed that their teaching, they twisted it to accommodate their own personal immorality as teachers.  They also exaggerated the need for externally looking like you follow God, even though you deny the power of it.  Hypocrisy.  And he also rebuked them for adding to the Scripture.  Adding to the laws and the traditions, that’s what we would call legalism.

I said this last week and I say it again, either the Word of God is sufficient in and of itself, or it is not the Word of God.  If Jesus is not sufficient of Himself to save the world, then Jesus is not the Savior of the world.  But the Word of God is sufficient, and Jesus is more than sufficient to save the sins of the world.

From this Scriptural authority I launched into a brief list of false teaching that is in our day.  I didn’t stay there long, but I brought closure to the message in it.  I talked about the health and wealth gospel.  I talked about universalism.  I talked about Christian universalism.  I talked about time, this end time mania that was so personified, even on the Saturday before last week.  And I talked about anything that was ever in contradiction to Christ or the Gospel of Jesus Christ that it was false teaching.  I mean listen to it this way, when we diminish the Word of God, and when we diminish Jesus Christ, and we diminish the Gospel of Jesus Christ in any way, it is false teaching.  It needs to be exposed and it needs to be expelled.  It needs to be ousted from the church.

So here we are with all of that behind us and with us, we come today to the solution.  Sometime we’re really good about pointing out the problems, and we don’t deal with the solutions.  But the wonderful news is, is that Paul went in, when he wrote to these churches that were just on the brink of formulating in Crete because of a dynamic witness of the Gospel that had happened when He was there, we know that he was also telling Titus, “Hey listen, these problems exist, now here’s the way you deal with these problems.”  And so not only was it descriptive of the false teaching and the false teachers, it was prescriptive on how to deal with the false teaching and prescriptive on how to deal with the false teachers.

So therefore, what is the solution?  The Scripture here gives what I believe 5 solutions to this problem.  5 solutions that are very, very important.  You can call them actions if you may, but whenever we confront any element of false teaching, or false teachers in our day, these are the actions that need to be taken.

Action number 1 in and of itself, quite honestly is the most important action.  And action number 1 is the following:

1.         To appoint Spirit-led, God-anointed, Bible-based, Jesus-centered pastors who lead Gospel churches.  If we really want to deal with a problem, the way to deal with a problem is with leadership that is committed to the Bible, led by the Spirit, anointed by the Spirit, and they have been gifted to lead the church, called out to lead the church.  You say Pastor Floyd I didn’t see that anywhere in verse 10 through verse 16.  Well, you really did, you just didn’t know you saw it.

If you were to go to the very first word of verse number 10, you will find the word for, f-o-r.  What that little word does it connects the two sections, the section of verse 5 through verse 9, and verse 10 through verse 16.  Now listen to what he says, in verse 5 through 9 he’s talking about appointing elders, leaders, overseers, pastors, all interchangeable terms, with the authority given to them to lead the church.  And he said they have been appointed.  I want you to appoint them Titus for the purpose of dealing with these issues.  And that’s what the rest of the book is about.  Of which the major issue already in a young church was false teaching, and false teachers.  Therefore, he is calling upon us to appoint the right kind of people.

I want to go down on what I just stated because it’s very important that we get a hold of it.  What you see in that statement I said a minute ago by appointing Spirit-led, God-anointed, Bible-based, Jesus-centered leaders, pastor leaders to lead the church, listen, all of that is in verse 5 through 9, every bit of it.  I want to show you.

Spirit-led.  Do you know what verse 5 through 9 says?  It talks about the importance of a pastor being Spirit-led rather than being led by the selfish will that he even deals with personally.  I

It talks about the pastor being God-anointed.  Why is that?  Because men of God have been called and set apart to lead the church!  Once a man is called to lead the church, called by God, he is anointed by God to lead the church.

Bible-based leadership.  That’s what verse 5 through 9 is all about.  And it talked about how the, the church needs to be governed by the Bible, not by a group of people, not by a man, not by anyone.  It is the Bible that is to govern the church.  The church should know what to do in every situation because of spiritual principles that come out of the Word of God.

Jesus-centered.  Jesus is the key personality in the church, not the pastor, not a group of pastors.  We need to remember this is about Jesus!  It’s not about a man.  If that’s why we’re here is to serve a man, or a group of men, then I’m going to tell you sooner or later life’s going to get tough, and you’re going to bow out.  Men come, men go, Jesus never leaves us, nor ever forsakes us.

Leads Gospel churches.  No one is called to lead the church other than the pastor of the church.  And what does he lead?  He leads a Gospel church, a church that’s committed to the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  This is why we need to pray for our own pastors to have courage to be this kind of leader.  This is why we need to pray for pastors all across the world to have this kind of courageous leadership.

Spirit-led, God-anointed, Bible-based, are you with me?  Jesus-centered, pastors who lead Gospel churches.  I love going to preach every now and then at various conventions, and when I have a chance or opportunity to speak to several hundred people, to several thousand people, I will always tell them, especially if there are laypeople in the room, you get behind your pastor.  If he’s preaching the Word, and he’s lifting Jesus up, I promise you he’s in a conflict.  And if he’s not in one, he’s going in one, and if he’s not in one and going in one, he’s coming out of one!  Because you cannot be a Bible preacher, centered on the lordship of Jesus Christ and the Gospel of Christ without undergoing major warfare pretty well everyday in your life, outside the church, and in the church.  And we need to pray that they have courage.

Jude 3 says that everyone of us are commended, and he is, “…appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered for all the saints.” That’s what we must do as leaders.  We must contend for the faith that will once for all deliver for the saints.  I am convinced that the most effective way to expose and to expel false teaching is to appoint pastors who lead Gospel churches based on the Bible, centered on Jesus, Spirit-led, God-anointed men called to lead.

You know let me give you an insight here under this first element, and this first action.  Teaching truth is the best way to combat error.  If you want to combat error, you can’t spend all your time teaching about the error.  You’ve got to teach about the truth.  I mean think about it folks, there’s so much error being taught in our day today, let’s say that I wanted to spend a year, a mean every Sunday of every year talking about the false religions, and the false things, and the cults, and everything else, do you realize I could fill a year in a preaching calendar with that?  But we’re not going to be any better off than we are!  We can’t even learn about Jesus and the Gospel and the Bible versus learning all this other stuff!  The best way to combat error is to teach biblical truth!

Do you realize that when a professional is teaching people how to recognize counterfeit money they don’t give out all the examples of counterfeit money until what happens?  Until they teach them what a real bill looks like!  Where they teach them what real money looks like!  That’s what we have to do in the church.  We’ve got to teach people what the Bible says.  We’ve got to teach them to be faithful to the Scripture so that they know the Scripture so well, and that’s why we all need to be students of the Scripture ourselves, so that when we see error, sense error, we know error for what it is.  Do you understand that part?  I promise you it is key, key, key, therefore, a pastor who preaches the Word of God, centered on Jesus Christ has the anointing to combat error.

But that’s not enough in and of itself, even though if there’s any one of these 5 that can, that one should, but he gives us other matters.  He says we need to:

2.         Silence it.  Silence it.  He talks about that in verse 11 in the Scripture.  He was talking in verse 10 about how people become insubordinate, they’re empty-talkers, meaning they talk like their head is empty, or that their teaching is so empty it has no purpose.  Deceivers, meaning they lead away from the truth, but then he said they must be silenced.  Period.  We have to silence it!  Silence it means to put something over their mouth immediately.  It means to gag them.  It means to put a muzzle around them, and muzzle on their mouth.  And the Scripture here doesn’t say after they’ve had plenty of time to, to, to exploit their error.  No, but the Scripture says you need to do it immediately with the use of the verbage there in the text.

You see pastors not only, and churches do not only have to confront false teaching, they have to silence false teaching.  Absolutely no tolerance.  Did you hear me?  Absolutely no tolerance, nor any negotiation.  Do you know what’s really amazing in today’s 21st Century church?  The church is many times seem to be very intolerant, especially when we are a Bible-preaching church.  Now when we hold up truth, we need to hold the love of God in one hand, and the truth of God in the other.  We have to truth and grace at the same time.  But nowhere should the church be tolerant of error!  We cannot afford to be tolerant of error.  We cannot compromise truth because truth is not to be negotiated!

I am convinced quite honestly that the church has an identity crisis, and that’s, that’s why we always think that we have to appeal to men in order to gain men!  We can’t appeal to men in order to gain men, appeal to this group in order to gain them; we can’t sell out the truth of the Gospel, and the truth of God’s Word to simply have 5 or 6 more people in a room with us!  We’ve got to hold up the truth of God.  God didn’t call us to do anything other than to lift up the Lord Jesus Christ and to declare His Word!  And that’s what we have to be faithful to do!  We can’t negotiate it.  We cannot do any of that.

Well Paul was so strong in his words here, Paul said that, that literally what this word means, silence, it means to put a muzzle over their mouth.  Have you ever been around somebody whose talking and spouting something that is so stupid you’d like to put a muzzle over their mouth?  I have.  I mean no doubt about it.  Well guess what?  That’s what Paul says we need to be willing to do when we people are spouting false teaching.  We need to put a muzzle over their mouth!

Now why is that so important?  Not only does that hurt the church, but look at verse 11.  It says there are whole entire households and families who are upset by the false teaching, and the false teachers.  If you study anyone who has ever been caught in an occult, and dealt with an occult, and wants out of the occult, they are surrounded with family members, perhaps some in the cult, but outside the cult, their whole family’s upset because they have gotten caught up in the error that is usually totally contrary to what the family believed.  What’s happening?  They’re being brainwashed.  What’s happening?  Their lives are being ruined.  Their families are being upset terribly.  Why?  Because the truth of God is being ignored, and attempting to be compromised.

Let me give you an insight on the passage today.  False teaching should never be given any platform in the church by the leaders of the church.  You know what?  We need to get a hold of this.  I mean we need to understand this.  Sometime we’re asked to accommodate this or accommodate that, false teachers should never be given any a platform in the church by the leaders of the church!  That’d be like having somebody in your church that doesn’t even like the church who happens to still be in the church give a testimony to the church about why they don’t like the church.  Well let’s give them a platform.  Give them a platform?  Why would you give them a platform?  I mean we can’t give false teaching a platform.  And if that ever happens in our church, we have to understand here God is called all of us to preserve the purity of the doctrinal truth of the Word of God.  It’s not simply a pastor issue you’re dealing with; it’s all of us dealing with it in the right way.

That’s why we have to go to a third action.  We’ve got to:

3.         Expose it.  We’ve got to expose it.  This entire passage calls upon church leaders to expose publicly false teaching and even to expose the false teachers.  And if it’s not exposed, then guess what happens?  Error will infiltrate the church.  I guarantee you a lot of error happens in churches all over the country and around the world today because we’re not willing to expose it.  We’re afraid of what somebody’s going to say.  We’re afraid we’re going to hurt somebody’s feelings.  We’d rather have a guy, and hand a guy and a gal the opportunity and the platform to destroy the fellowship rather than deal with the issue!  That’s not what we can do!  God’s called us to deal with the issue!  We have to expose it for what it is!  That’s a hard thing to do.

Let’s take for example, and I referred to this briefly last week, let’s take the example of the, the Evangelical crisis today around a book written by a young, younger leader, not young, young, but a younger leader by the name of Rob Bell.  It’s called Love Wins.  Now many of you say I don’t even know who Rob Bell is.  I’ve never heard of Rob Bell.  And you know, listen, I just want to tell you most of you folks that are middle-aged and above, unless you’re a prolific reader and you want, you want to really get after some, some, some of that younger culture, you may never in your life hear from them, or hear about him, and who he is.

But I want to just tell you he is a major force and influence in evangelical Christianity by those who are 35 and under.  Let me talk about that for a moment.  I’ve appreciated some of Rob’s work.  I’ve read some of his books.  I’ve watched some of his videos.  He’s an amazingly gifted man.  But now we have an issue.  Now he proclaims that everyone will be okay in eternity, and that everyone will go to heaven when they die because love wins out anyway.

You know what?  That’s an age-old heiracy dressed in a new wardrobe, and it’s called universalism.  He is diminishing of unbelief, and that’s what he’s doing.  He’s diminishing unbelief, and he even diminishes hell.  It flies in the face of God’s Word, because in reality that’s what he believes.  Hell’s really, you know, no longer like we’ve imagined it, and have been talking about in our lives.  But the only problem with it is that you have a choice.  Am I going to believe about eternal life with what Jesus says?  Or what Rob Bell says?  Am I going to believe about hell and heaven what Jesus says, or what Rob Bell says, or some other guy says?

You see Bell’s hell is not the Bible’s hell.  He attempts to diminish the Bible, and he attempts to diminish the Gospel message.  Now he wouldn’t see it like that, but that’s what he’s doing.  Therefore, until he repents, until he changes, until he is demonstrating a 100% allegiance to the Word of God over a course of time, here’s the reality for me.  I will not read him.  I will not listen to him anymore.  I will not watch him.  I will not quote him again.  You say wow that’s pretty tough.  Let me get it on another level.  You shouldn’t either.  You shouldn’t either.

You say well Rob has helped me.  I came to Christ with Rob.  Great.  Thank God for it.  God can use anybody.  God can use anybody.  God’s used him to grow me under his mentorship.  Wonderful!  Thank God for it!  But pray for him now.  And I really believe he will come back.  I really do.  But I want to tell you for now we expose it, and we let it go.

You see, when I say something like that in a day and time, you know, I basically would be looked at as being well you know you’re just a fundamentalist, you’re just an intolerant leader.  You know pastor you’re a little prophetic.  You see things black and white.  Everybody doesn’t see it like that.  Well, I am a little prophetic.  I do see most things black and white, even though I’ve seen a lot of gray these days, and I know I don’t have all the answers.  But when it comes to biblical truth, that’s so clear and so apparent that was opposing to Jesus’ teaching, I have no, I have no alternative.  You call it what you want, and if you think that’s tough, listen to what he says is the fourth action we need to take, and this is right out of the Word of God, verse 13.

4.         Rebuke it sharply.  Rebuke it sharply!  That’s what he says!  It doesn’t matter what it is!  False teaching, false teachers; rebuke it sharply!  Why?  So that they’ll be sound in the faith.  Do you know what it means to rebuke them sharply?  It means to cut them off abruptly.  Cut them off abruptly.  In fact the word indicates this also indicates the shedding of light upon the teaching, as well as shedding the light on the lack of character on the teacher.  And when all is exposed, all the lies, all the hypocrisy, they need to be rebuked severely.

Now why is this done?  Look at the text.  Look at verse 13.  So they can be sound in the faith.  So they can be healthy in their understanding of Jesus Christ, and the understanding of Scripture.  The goal is not to, to rebuke them sharply and act like they no longer exist.  The goal is to redeem them and restore them!  The message of the church is not you can’t do this, you can’t do that, but the message of the church is to hold truth up, truth itself will rebuke!  Truth in itself will make you uncomfortable.  Right?  Somebody tells you truth and you’re not living it, you’re not, you’re not in it in your life, what do you do?  You’re going to defend it, or you’re going to go oh well I’m not sure I believe that, or you know we start negotiating, and start trying to compromise.  Well you know what we have to understand is ladies and gentlemen is that the ultimate goal teenagers is to, is that we rebuke them sharply because we want to redeem them for the gospel, and we want to see them restored through church.  That’s why the church stands for, stands for truth.  Because truth in and of itself does it’s own rebuking.

It was 325 A.D. when a council took place called the Council of Nicea.  The early church took false teaching very seriously.  They were not like the 21st Century church, at least in the land of America, and probably many places around the world.  One of the most prominent and threatening conflicts in 325 that led up to that was there was a man named Arius.  Arius demonstrated and believed and preached that Jesus was not divine, and that Jesus was not eternal.  That was happening in the church.  So the leaders of the church convened and said listen, who’s right here?  Is Arius right, or is he wrong?

In the midst of the council there was a young twenty-something guy.  His name was Athanasius; all of you 20 plus leaders listen to me today.  You’ve got to be willing to stand even in your culture, and even in your time.  Athanasius stood and he said no Arius is wrong!  His teaching is wrong!  Jesus is both divine and eternal!  The Council of Nicea reached a deep understanding, and an abiding eternal conviction of this, listen carefully.  That Jesus Christ and His Father are the same substance, and Jesus is eternal.

Do you realize that that stand had not taken place by Athanasius, and Arius would have got his own way, we today would believe that Jesus was a good man, but He’s not God, and He’s not eternal?  But thank God for men and women like Athanasius who have stood in some of the great conflicts of time, and called it like it was, lifted up what Jesus says He was, and lifted up the Word of God, calling the church back to the Bible.  So friends we have to understand today sometime we have to rebuke it severely and sharply all for the purpose of holding up biblical truth.

The fifth action is to:

5.         Expel it.  Do you know what the word expel means?  It means to oust.  It means to remove it.  It didn’t mean it to tolerate it.  It meant to remove it, to expel it, to oust it.  If we don’t oust it, we have ongoing issues.  Ultimately what will occur is there will be a lack of doctrinal truth that is preserved in the church.  I mean let’s say for a moment that we have something going on in our church here at Pinnacle Hills, and some people believe something this way, and some people believed it that way, and we know where the church believed it, but yet, one day over in the children’s division they started teaching your children contrary to this pulpit.  And when that happened, there began to be a conflict, and the Council of Pinnacle Hills would take place, and we would decide what does the Bible say.

We don’t ever need to get to that part.  We need to hold up biblical truth, and Jesus has the answer for everything.  But if we don’t expel it, here’s what will happen.  In fact it not only has to do with what I’m going to say, it not only has to do with error, and, and false teaching, and false teachers.  It even has to do when disunity is tolerated in the church.  In fact later on in Colossians, it calls disunity for what it is, and denounces it strongly.  But listen, this is what happens when even disunity is even tolerated.  Listen, diminish the Bible occurs when we do not deal with false teaching and expel it, and oust it, and remove it, or we become tolerant or disunity, sooner or later we’re diminishing the Bible.

When we know the Bible in and of itself cannot be diminished because we believe that Scripture is completely sufficient.  But you know what?  The world doesn’t get it, and even the church doesn’t get it when we say we believe the Bible, and yet we don’t live the Bible.  Therefore the Bible is diminished.

We also devalue Jesus Christ when we tolerate, we permit and we don’t expel, we devalue Jesus Christ.  Because either Jesus brings the people together around truth and unity, or HE doesn’t.  Right?  We devalue Jesus Christ.

We eventually will reduce the Gospel.  Reduce the Gospel.  What does that mean?  That means that we try to put the Gospel lower than what the Gospel is.  We don’t need to reduce the Gospel.  The Gospel is the power of God to salvation.

If we tolerate sooner or later it will erode truth in the church.  It will erode truth in the church.  Oh it will be like a small growing cancer that all of a sudden is not even recognizable, but then over the course of time because it has been going on in your system, and they have not dealt with it, sooner or later it will begin to show its ugly face through your body, eventually bringing death.

Sooner or later it will belittle church leadership.  I promise you that’s why he mentioned insubordination.  It will belittle church leadership.  It will put this leader versus this leader.  All of a sudden you will have a 1 Corinthians 3 conflict going on which is the carnality that goes on.  I identify with this one.  I identify with that one.

It will also weaken church unity.  And you know what?  The church is called to be unified, but it’s the truth of the Gospel that unifies the church.

It will distract from the Great Commission.  Distract from the Great Commission.  I realize that some of our people would probably like for us to talk about something other than the Great Commission, but I’ll be honest with you there’s nothing in the world to talk about in the Christian life that doesn’t have something to do with the Great Commission.  That shows how shallow we are at times, because what does He say the Great Commission is?  Is to go and make disciples of all the nations beginning right here around the world, even across America.  We’re called to make disciples.  And low I’ll be with you always, even at the end of the age He’s going to be with us.

What else did He say?  I want you to teach all things to My people.  That’s what we’re going today!  We’re disciple making.  That’s what biblical preaching is.  It is making disciples of all the nations.  Now that’s where it all goes if we don’t deal with it, but I want to bring closure today in the following way.  And I really want you to grab this and I want you to put your arms around it today.

We need to boost the Bible.  The Bible is the Word of God.  And while we may be in a church that believes the Bible is infallible, and, and, and inerrant, and without, without any error at all, we believe in a perfect God who believed and breathed into existence a perfect Book while, while the vast majority of us, if not all of us, believe that, trust me we live in a day and time when you boost the Bible this secular culture tries to make you look like an idiot.  But I want to tell you under the authority of Jesus Christ today, this church must be constantly be committed to boosting the Bible!  Boosting the Bible!  Boosting the Bible!

What do we have to say if it’s not in the Bible?  We have no message apart from the Bible.  We need to hold the Bible up, and we need to teach the Bible!  We need to preach the Bible!  We need children’s ministries that teach the Bible!  We need preschool ministries that teach the Bible!  We need student ministries that teach the Bible!  We need adult ministries that teach the Bible!  We need single adult ministries that teach the Bible!  We need family ministries that teach the Bible!  We need worship ministries that teach the Bible!  We need mission ministries that teach the Bible!  We must boost the Bible!

But we must also; we must also be committed to exalting Jesus Christ.  Exalting Jesus Christ.  This is not about a man, it’s not about a group of men, it’s about Him.  It’s about Jesus Christ.  And in a day and time in which we’re so drawn to leaders, and we’re so drawn to, to, to a fascination with a leader of some kind, and we’re so enamored by the external appearance, or what appears to be, we need to get out of that business!  The church is not called to, to, to celebrate celebrities; the church is called to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ!  And when He is exalted, let me tell you real clearly what the Bible says, He will draw all men unto Himself.  That’s what He says.  And either Jesus is sufficient, or He’s not, and if He’s not sufficient, He’s a liar.  But He is sufficient!  He is who He says He is!  He will do what He says He will do!  He’s the Savior of the world.  He’s the coming King.  He’s the Lord of Lords, and I’m telling you we need to exalt Jesus!

I let me tell you one of the great things is God didn’t call me to grow this church, God called me to make much of Jesus because when I exalt Jesus, He will draw men unto Himself.  I’m not here to do anything other than boost the Bible, and preach Jesus.  And that’s who I am.  And that’s what I need to be.

But not only do we need to exalt Jesus Christ, we need to declare the Gospel!  We need to declare the Gospel!  It’s about declaring the Gospel and declaring the Gospel means what?  That Christ died for your sins, and that you have eternal life the moment you receive Him into your life.

If we imagine the Gospel simply being as our escape from hell, but the Gospel is not simply that, the Gospel is a way to live!  Do you realize today that I do family life because of the Gospel?  I don’t do family life apart from the Gospel.  The Gospel that saved me is the same Gospel that’s changing me!  The Gospel that saves me has potential to make me a better husband!  Has potential to make me a better poppy!  Has potential to make me a better pastor!  Has the potential to make me a better leader.  Has the potential to make me care for people the way Jesus wants me to care for people.

Listen!  None of my life, none of my life is excluded from the power of the Gospel!  None of it!  And you cannot categorize yourself and say I’m this, then I do Gospel here, and I do Jesus here, no!  It’s either Gospel-centered, centered on the Lord Jesus, or else you’re lost and you’ve never been changed and saved by the grace of God.

You see in my humble opinion and I say this, and with this I close, either the Bible is sufficient in and of itself, or it’s a lie!  Either Jesus is sufficient in and of Himself, or He’s a liar!  Either the Gospel is sufficient in and of itself to change lives, to alter lives, to alter families, and to make your life a lot better than it is presently, or else it’s a lie.  But I’m telling you today the Bible is not a lie.  Jesus is not a lie.  The Gospel is not a lie.  The Bible is your hope.  The Lord Jesus is your hope.  And the Gospel is your hope.   And with it man you can go anywhere!  Without it, I’m telling you your life is limited, and powerless, and I challenge you to boost the Bible in your life!  Don’t back down!  Exalt Jesus Christ!  Don’t back down!  And you declare the Gospel because that’s the power of God to salvation.  And I’m telling you it’s sufficient in and of itself.
