In this message Pastor Floyd examines the importance of the bible when dealing with difficult times.

Every Monday in USA Today there is an editorial on religion. And on April the 13th of this year there was an editorial entitled “Fighting Words.” It’s built upon one question and I want you to listen very, very carefully to the question. “Is the Bible the literal word of God, or a historical compilation written by different people in different situations over a period of years?” Which one is it?

Well leading the pack is a theologian by the name of Bart Erman who teaches at the University of North Carolina religious studies department, and he’s released a new book called, Jesus Interrupted. A book committed to showing the mass number of discrepancies in the Holy Book according to what is stated in the article. Erman is complimented by other liberal theologians in our day, in fact, there’s a couple of them, Marcus Board, and John Dominic Crossen who are teaming up to write a book on the Apostle Paul, and how the Apostle Paul uh did not really write all of the conservative teachings of much of the New Testament. In other words, the thing that all of this article shows is that there are alternative ways, and alternative thoughts about the Bible.

The article moves toward conclusion with a statement that says, “People have always has differing views of Jesus, and what it means to be a Christian, virtually even since day one.” But the real thought that got my attention that day was the phrase, “Fighting Words.” And that provocative question “Is the Bible the literal word of God, or a historical compilation written by different people in different situations over a period of years?” When I read that it made me immediately go to a website that is done by the George Barna Research Group. In fact, I believe it is barna.org if you ever want to look at it, because I wanted to see what the most recent research said that people believed about the Bible. I thought it was quite interesting. In fact, listen carefully to what the most recent research says, and I quote, “Only 55% of Christians,” now are you listening? “…Christians strongly agree that the Bible is accurate in all the principles it teaches.” Only 55% of the Christians strongly agree that the Bible is accurate in all of its principles.

Now what that means is that 45% of the Christians in America don’t believe the Bible is accurate in all of its principles. That led me to the following, this is pretty incredible: that 41% of Christians believe the following statement, 41%. How many? 41% believe the Bible, the Koran, and the Book of Mormon are all different expressions of the same truth. The Bible, the Koran, and the Book of Mormon, while all different expressions, they’re all different expressions of basically the same truth. Well I want to tell you today, the Bible is not the same expression as the Koran, or the Book of Mormon, at all, whatsoever at all! And what’s amazing with that statement is that only 28% of Christians disagreed strongly with it! The 12% somewhat disagreed, and 20% they were undecided. Now that’s, that’d make great, great, great politicians, wouldn’t they?

You see what we need to understand is that the Word of God has been under attack ever since the Garden of Eden. Do you remember what happened in the Garden of Eden? God told them do not eat of the tree. And what did Adam and Eve do? They ate of the tree. Whatever it is, demonic influence, satanic influence, they were mislead, and they ate of the tree. Therefore, original sin was born.

Paul was also very concerned about Timothy’s day because Paul told Timothy, he said, “Now Timothy there will be many people who will attack the faith, many who will attack the Word, and many who will try to mislead the church.” But he said, “Timothy you have got to know what you believe.” And he also told Timothy, “Timothy while these false teachers, and these ideologies, erroneous philosophies come up against and attack the church, but also literally live within the church now, because research shows there’s not a whole lot of difference between what we believe, and what the big old world out there believes. What a sad commentary?

And he told him, he said, “You’ve got to understand that one of the greatest things you can do in your life, Timothy, as a spiritual man, as a spiritual leader, is to continue in the sacred scriptures.” God has spoken, and you need to continue you in the sacred scriptures. That’s what I want to talk to you about today. Over the last several weeks we’ve talked about the top 10 ways you can make it through difficult times. I want to share with you today that what I’m going to say today has got to be one of the leading ways to make it through difficult times, because if it is not your foundation, then you will live a life with crisis, after crisis, after crisis concerning what you believe in your faith.

So how should we continue in the Holy Scriptures, the Sacred Writings, the Sacred Scriptures of God’s Word? Well you know what? We will see, and we must continue to do that:

1. In the way you live. That’s where I want us to begin today in the journey of the text. And so if you have a copy of God’s Word, I hope that you will have it turned with me to 2 Timothy, chapter number 3. I’m going to be reading today various portions, and teaching you these various portions as we go through. But the entire message is going to cover verse 10 through verse number 17 of 2 Timothy, chapter number 3.

Listen to what God says in the Word. May I remind you, last week, “Difficult times will come in the last days.”? It will be such a season of adversity that self-exaltation will dominate, self-gratification will be vogue for the day. Therefore, Timothy, don’t get caught up in it. And then he commends Timothy, and he says in verse, verse number uh, uh 10, but you Timothy. He separated them from all that was going on in verse 9. He gives an affirmative, positive word to Timothy, “But you have followed my teaching.” That means that you have followed closely what I have taught you. I have been your mentor, and you have come up under me, and you are disciplining into what I believe about my teaching.

The word “teaching” there is the word, “message.” The message is what? The gospel of Jesus Christ, all in the reality of Genesis to Revelation. Also, “But you have followed my teaching…” You have followed my “conduct,” the guiding principles is what that word “conduct” means that I operate my life by. You have followed my “purpose.” My purpose is to commit my life to Jesus Christ. And to touch the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. You have followed my “faith,” meaning that you have now walked with me, and you have born confidence in the midst of a challenging day.

He says you have also followed me in “patience,” in the midst of all the adversity of these difficult times that are now existent in the last days. You have been able to bear under that. you have been able to stay faithful in the midst of that. You’ve exhibited great patience. You’ve also followed the way I “love.” The way I love God, and the way I love other people.

And also, you have been filled with “endurance.” You know why he could be filled with endurance? You could put a little phrase there beside it, “with hope.” He was filled with endurance, with hope. You know what? You can get through pretty well everything in your life if you have hope. You destroy a person’s hope, you basically destroy their future.

But he said also, along with that in verse 11, “…along with that the persecutions…” what are the persecutions? “…and the sufferings…” referred to? He’s talking about the hardships of the gospel? You know what? Sometimes when we chose to stand strong on scripture, to stand strong on the gospel of Jesus Christ, hardships come to our lives, persecutions may come. That’s what happened to Paul. That’s what happened to Timothy. And he’s telling them, “Along with that,” he said, “remember what happened to me? Remember what happened to me in Antioch? Remember what happened to me at Iconium? Remember what happened to me at Lystra? Let me go through all of those. Let me tell you what happened at Lystra.”

At Lystra Paul was stoned and left for dead. And I’m not talking about being high, or getting drunk. He was stoned with rocks, with stones to the point they thought he was dead, and he was left for dead. All that was because of his commitment to Christ. But, “What persecutions,” he testified, “I endured!” Why could he endure it? Because of hope.

Yet, notice what he says. What a great word, boy you ought to underline this one. “Yet the Lord rescued me from them all.” You know why I had these guys sing that song this week, “He Lifted Me”? Because of that one phrase, “rescued me.” The word “rescue” there is in the verbiage means He lifted me up out of my sufferings, and lifted me out of my persecutions. I want to say to every one of you today regardless of what you’re facing in your life, or whatever you will face, we serve a God who is able to lift you up out of your adversity!  Like He shut the mouths of the lions, and just like He was able to keep the men from burning in the fire, He is a God who is able to do that for you and me.

And he testifies in verse 12, he said, “In fact, all those who live a godly life,” all those who live a God fearing life, a life that’s filled with right attitude, and right choices, he says all those people, he says, will be persecuted. So you know what, if you think when you choose to do right, life’s going to be easy, it’s not always easy. So there’s a price for choosing what’s right at times. Not always, but many times in life.

And then he talks about evil people, imposters, those who have form without any form of godliness, and not any power, according to verse 5 in the same chapter. And he said they will become worse, meaning that many more people will progress to come onto the scene like that, and they will deceiving, and they will be misleading, and they will also be misled. Wow. All of that to tell us this important truth that if we want to continue in the sacred scriptures, it’ll be evidence in the way you live.

The Apostle Paul was giving to you in verse 10 through 13 his resume. I mean think about that being his resume. I wonder if you’d been sitting on the pastor search committee of a church, if you would have called the Apostle Paul as your pastor. Paul tells us about yourself. Well, I tell you what, over there in Lystra I got stoned to death, almost, they thought I was dead. Well you know I’ve been through tough times, hardships. I almost got beheaded, but got away from that. Oh yea. I wonder if he would have been up for a Mission Board appointment by an Mission Board Agency. I wonder if they would have appointed this man. I dare say, probably not because the resume appeared to be a little questionable.

But you know what Paul told Timothy these words for? Was to lift out of the text for us is a principle, and here’s the principle: Your life, your life shows what you believe about the scriptures. Your life does. Either these scriptures are alive through life, or they’re not. The greatest testimony about what you believe about the scriptures is your life! You can shout about how much you believe the Bible. You can even, I mean, you can just go crazy over what you believe about the Bible. But I want to tell you today, your life shows what you believe about the Bible. Your life shows about whether or not this Word is able to be trusted or not, whether or not you believe you want to trust it in your life. I want to challenge you today, and ask you, does your life show that you believe this book? Does your attitude show that you believe this book? Does your heart show that you believe this book? The challenge was, you’ve got to understand it’s seen through the way you live, Timothy, whether good times or bad times.

But he also challenged him to continue in the sacred scriptures by not only in the way you live, but in what he has learned in his life, and that’s what you have to do:

2. In what you have learned. If what you have learned is trustworthy. Look with me in verse 14, and verse number 15. “But as for you,” again he is separating Timothy even more. “But as for you, continue,” that word continue is the word that means to hold on to, to remain in. So he was telling him, “Timothy you’ve got to hold on to, “…what you’ve learned, and to what you have firmly believed,” meaning you were convinced of, “knowing those from whom you learned.” In other words, because you were taught right, you need to go back to believing what you learned!

Now I want you to notice what he was taught. Go back in chapter one of verse 5. Chapter one of the same book in verse 5. He says, “Clearly recalling your sincere faith that you first lived, that first lived in your grandmother Lois,” in other words, Timothy’s grandmother lived for Jesus. She deposited her faith in to Timothy. Timothy’s mother named Eunice deposited her faith in Timothy. Also verse 5 talks about how, “and then I am convinced, and I am also pouring myself into you.” In other words, what he was telling Timothy is, “Timothy your legacy of your faith is so powerful that the people who have taught you have been true to scripture, and the people that have taught you have such integrity, and they have such trustworthiness, you’ve got to continue in what you have learned when you were growing up in your life!”

And then he rehearses to him what he learned, and that from childhood, from childhood, you have known the sacred scriptures. Do you know at age 5 the Jewish people begin to teach strongly, specifically, the law of God to their children? Well, Timothy ever since your childhood you’ve been taught. You’ve known the sacred scriptures. The only time in scripture this is used is right here in this text. The holy, the sacred scriptures, referring to the God scriptures; the divine scriptures. They are sacred writings, and these sacred writings do one thing. They’re given to you. Notice what the scripture says in verse 15. They are able to instruct you for salvation, through Jesus, and through faith in Christ Jesus.

Why are the scriptures given to us? For that one purpose. To instruct me to salvation, through faith in Christ Jesus. You know the scriptures are given to us for us to know God. First for us to get to know God even better, and sometimes we get all that out of sorts because we think they’re given to us so we can grow. Well they are! They are, but listen, all understanding the scripture properly leads people to one thing: salvation in Jesus Christ, and Him alone. That’s why the scripture has been given. These have been given to us so we will know the way, we will know the truth, and we will the life in our lives.

Thinking back about that, continuing in what we have learned, that brought back to my attention another matter of research that breaks my heart, and it ought to break all of our hearts. Do you know that children and students who are raised in church, supposedly have given their life to Christ, research shows that almost 90% of them leave their faith when they go to college? Almost 90%! And research sows, shows that some of them come back in their young adult years. They come back through getting married at times, or having children, or they’ve got a major crisis in their family.

You know it’s pretty sad when you think about all of the time, all of the money, all of the pouring in of a ministry, a church, and also of a group of parents who pour into a child, and then all of a sudden when that child goes to a university, 90% of them leave what they have learned. That’s a tragedy. That means we’re losing a generation ladies and gentlemen.

But I want to tell every student here today, from teenager, the youngest teenager, all the way to the college student and the young adult, listen to me, it does not have to be that way! And I want to say to you also, it should not be that way! It doesn’t have to be that way! You say, “Oh it’s hard going to a campus. It’s hard. It’s hard. Oh, there’s so much. I’m either girling it up, or boying it up, or what’s cool today is girling and boying it up! Or drugging it up. Or drinking it up, or partying it up! Hey this is my chance, my moment to, to create myself.” Create yourself? You call that creating yourself? It doesn’t have to be that way!

I thought about 2 young women that have come through our church. They didn’t go that path. I think about Katie Tucker. Katie went to Texas A&M University. Texas A&M has just under 15000 students. It is a very secular school, just like most public schools are, if not all. I mean she’s going to hear a variety of beliefs about a lot of different things, and you know what? Katie’s living for Jesus. She’s graduate this August. She’s been committed to Christ! Has not strayed. Has not wavered! Gave last summer to work in the Dream Center in inner city Los Angeles to touch homeless children, and homeless people to reach them for Jesus Christ. It doesn’t have to be that way.

And I think of young Mary Grace Joseph. Mary Grace is also a student at Texas A&M, and I want to tell you folks, she’s committed to Christ! She’s committed to her church! She’s trying to be what God wants her to be. She doesn’t stray. She doesn’t wander. She’s straight as an arrow! I’m telling you students, and you listen carefully young adults, it does not have to be that way, and it should not be that way! And parents you cannot passively look and say, “Well he’s just coming into his own. We all sow our wild oats.” Okay. Have you equipped your son or daughter intellectually to combat a PhD who literally undermines the authority of scripture? Yes or no? Did you equip them to stand in the midst of adversity and walk away from that? To stand against sin, and not be lured in by that sin? Did you do that? I’m telling you for every voice in their ear that says come to church, and your life, and you as a parent needs to be in their ear challenging their heart, it doesn’t have to be that way!

Could you imagine if it doesn’t change, what church will be like 30 years from now across America? A church vacant of young adults that will then be in their 40’s, 50’s? they won’t be here. A whole generation. You see the real issue is what I move to the next moment. You’ve got to continue:

3. In what you believe. Continue in what you believe. If you’re going to continue in the sacred scriptures, you’ve got to be very committed in what you believe. Look with me to verse number 16, and verse number 17. I’m going to read this, and then I’m going to come back and I’m going to talk about it. Listen carefully. “All scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be completely equipped for every good work.” You see, if you’re going to continue in the sacred scriptures, you’ve got to continue in what you believe.

So what do you believe? Huh. Ever ask yourself that? I mean what do I really believe? I mean sooner or later your faith has got to become your own! So what do you believe? What do you believe? I mean what do you believe? I want to tell you today what Paul believed about these scriptures. I want to tell you what Timothy believed about these scriptures. I want to tell you what the early church believed about these scriptures. I want to tell you what this pastor believes about these scriptures, and I want to tell you what our church overall believes about these scriptures today.

Let me talk about what the scripture says about its:

(1) Inspiration. Inspiration. You know what inspiration is? Is that God breathed these scriptures into existence. Now think about that. Out of nothing, He breathed these holy scriptures into existence. You remember what that phrase was at the beginning of 16? All scripture is inspired by God… I wonder what all that means? I’m going to tell you. Listen carefully. And you’ve got to listen. You better think with me now. You’ve got to put your thinking hat on, all right? Are you ready? Think with me.

If you were to look at a Greek New Testament, you would see these words on verse number 16. You would see the phrase pasa graphe. That means, literally, every scripture, every passage. Now follow me. Pasa graphe, every scripture, every passage. Follow? Pasa graphe theopneustos, that’s the way it would look in the Greek New Testament. That word theopneustos is a combination of 2 words, theos, is the word for God in the Greek language. Pneustos comes from the root word pneuma, which is our word for wind, spirit, or breath. So you think about it, all scripture is inspired by God. Pasa grapha theopneustos.

SO what does all that mean Pastor Floyd? I’ll tell you what it means. Is that every scripture, and every passage of scripture, is God breathed. There’s not one of them that’s not God breathed. God spoke them. So what you hold in your hand is an inspired book! And I’m not talking about the kind of inspiration that, that Shakespeare had, or even a Christian writer like C.S. Lewis had, both gifted writers, but I’m talking about a whole different level of inspiration. I’m talking about where God literally got so involved, He was speaking these words into reality.

Now what does all that mean? Well let me tell you what pasa graphe theopnuestos, all scripture’s inspired by God. Every scripture, and every passage of scripture is God breathed. Let’s break that down even more today. We’re going to get a little technical here for a moment. Let’s break down here. You know what that means? That means that the book is:

(a) Infallible. Infallible. That means it is trustworthy and reliable in every way, never misleading you. We believe in the infallibility of the Word of God. That it’s trustworthy, and it’s reliable in every way. This book, listen to me, anything this book ever says, it never misleads you!

We also believe that means that the book is:

(b) Inerrant. That means that it is free from error or falsehood. In other words, it is incapable of being wrong. It is the inerrant word of God, free from error, free from falsehood, incapable of being wrong. You see the question that I like to ask in that is, how could a perfect God ever breath anything into existence that would be less than perfect in any way or form or shape?

But also, not only was it infallible and inerrant, it was:

(c) Authoritative. The word of God is authoritative.

Remember, how much more authoritative can you get than pasa graphe theopnuestos? All scripture is inspired by God. Authoritative means that it comes from where? God, theos, and gives God’s Word to us, therefore it is authoritative in every way. What you hold in your hand is a Bible. It is God’s Word to your life ladies and gentlemen. Therefore, we believe in its complete trustworthiness, its entire reliability, it is inerrant in every way, and it is authoritative in everything that it speaks about! It’s not a book on medicine, but if it speaks on medical issues, it’s authoritative. It’s not a book on finance, but if it speaks about finance, it’s authoritative about it. it doesn’t matter what the issue is, it doesn’t matter what it speaks to, it is authoritative in absolutely every element of life.

So the scripture is our inspiration. But also, let’s talk about the:

(2) Profitability of the scriptures. The profitability of the scriptures. Boy you talk about a powerful thing here. There are a lot of things I could talk about here, and I came across something written by Warren Wearsbe that was so powerful, I decided that I could not improve on this whatsoever at all. Because he so nailed it! I would have gotten there, but I just wouldn’t have gotten there with this simplicity that he got there. So listen to what he talks about when he talks about how the scripture are profitable, what do I mean there Ronnie?

Well look back in verse number 16. The Bible says it’s profitable for… All right, let’s talk about what it’s profitable for? For what? First of all for:

(a) Teaching. It’s profitable for teaching. Teaching is doctrine. And what is teaching do, and doctrine do? It shows you what’s right. So the Bible is profitable to show you what is right. Are you with me? Just say yes. Now, thank you for that very much.

Now also it is profitable for:

(b) Rebuking. For rebuking. Some scriptures there would say, or translated would show reproof. Now what does that mean? That means it shows us what is not right. So we have a book in our hand that is not only, not only inspired by God, but it’s also a book that is profitable in every way from our life. It teaches me what is right, and it teaches me what is not right. That’s a pretty good deal, isn’t it? There’s no gray in it. I mean it shows us what’s right, and what’s not right.

Then it’s also a book that also talks about:

(c) Correcting us. This book will correct us. It will show us how to get right. That’s what the Bible is able to do. You know sometime periodically people say, “You know I come to your church, and why, I mean man ya’ll, I mean you’re pastor he just kinds of, kind of lets it all out about the Bible, and wow I’m not sure I need that or I want that.” I understand that, but you know what? It isn’t me folks. This book shows you how to get right. if you’re not right, you need to get right. and if you’re right, you’re not bothered by the need to get right. You know what? The only way to get right is to stay right, and that’s what the scripture also shows you because it’s profitable for you to what?

(d) For instruction in righteousness. That’s what the next one is. Instruction in righteousness. Training in righteousness. And this Bible tells you how to stay right. Oh man, you talk about a powerful concept. Look at this. Think about what the Bible will do for you. are you with me? This book has the power to help you to know what’s right, to know what’s wrong. It’ll tell you how to get right, and listen to this, it’ll even tell you how to stay right! there’s not a more profitable book you’ll ever buy. There’s not a more profitable book that you’ll ever read than the book you hold in your hand today. That’s why you need to bring a Bible to church! I mean let me tell you something man, this is a profitable book! It’s more profitable than anything you’re going to read in US News and World Report. It is more profitable than anything you’re going to read in the Wall Street Journal. I mean we’re talking about this deal is absolute, 100% profitable!

You tell me a book that tells you what’s right, you tell me a book that tells you what’s wrong, you tell me a book that will tell you when it’s not right, and how to get right, and you show me a book that’ll tell you how to stay right. Let me tell you something man, there’s no book like the Bible, the Word of God. We need to understand today, and we need to appreciate it’s inspiration. And we need to also appreciate today it’s incredible profitability, but I want you to notice finally today we need to also understand its:

(3) Sufficiency. The scripture here talks about it being sufficient. It is a very sufficient book. So that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. You see, last weekend in the National Football League rookies reported who were just signed, or will be signed for multiple million-dollar contracts. They will be, they were, and perhaps they had it before, they had a playbook. And that playbook would be the coaches, and the teams’ playbook. Shows them what their plays are, and what they’re going to do in certain situations, blah, blah, blah. Now in that, they’re accountable intellectually to learn what the playbook says. And then respond from the will to do it to the point that they don’t even have to think about it because they know how to respond.

Folks, that’s what this Bible is to you. It is a playbook. It is your way to run plays, man. I mean this is it, and you know only have to intellectually comprehend it, and work on comprehending it, you’ve got to let it be so much a part of you it just flows out of your life! But you know you can do that because of its sufficiency.

What do I mean by the scriptures and their sufficiency? Well the scriptures will:

(a) Make you a man or a woman of God. I know what

it will make you, a mean a man or a woman of God. Do you want to be a man or a woman of God? It doesn’t matter if you’re a 15, 16, 16 year old teenager, you can be a man or a woman of God. What’s going to make you that? The scripture’s going to make you that.

Also the scripture can make you:

(b) Fit for life. It doesn’t matter what you need to be fit for. This book can make you fit for life. it doesn’t matter whether you’re in the midst of adversity, or this, or you’re in the middle of great mountains of grandeur. It doesn’t matter if you’re in prosperity, or you’re in need. It doesn’t matter if you have plenty, or you have want. You listen very carefully today, these scriptures will make you fit for life. These scriptures will show you how to respond to life, in the midst of life, and if you know what they say, it’s just going to become as easy as breathing to you, and you’re going to know what is right in your life.

But these scriptures also:

(c) Make you have everything you need as they are sufficient in every way and for every thing. They make you have everything you need, everything you need, and they’re sufficient in every way, and every thing. I want to challenge you today to understand this book is sufficient in and of itself alone. Periodically, you know, we’re told by Christians, “Ah man you’ve got to read this book. You’ve got to read that book. Well there’s not a greater book. We’ll have small groups, and those small groups will study a book.” All that’s fine as long as that book points you more to what God says, than what that author says. If it doesn’t, you don’t need to be studying that book. You might ready it, but you don’t need to be studying it too long.

Why is that? I’ll tell you why. Because of one thing. Listen, you’re never going to study a more sufficient book than this book. This book is your all sufficiency. And this book points you to an all-sufficient Christ who will meet your needs according to His riches in glory. It’s all-sufficient. So why is all this important? Let’s talk about that before we go today.

What’s the final question? Why is it so important? How do we have to know this? Why do we have to know this? I’ll tell you the answer to that. To lead you and the entire world to the saving power of Jesus Christ. That’s why. That’s why. Why is that important, I already know Christ. I’ll tell you why that is important friend. If we do not understand what we believe about the scriptures, in time, in moments, a philosophy, an ideology, a thought process, a mindset, will creep into our minds, will creep into our thought processes, will then begin to interpret various matters, and we’re in trouble immediately. We’ve got to know what we believe.

I mean think about our nation today. Our President, according to some this week, will announce the next Supreme Court nominee, and you know what I read this morning early? It’s not, it’s no longer going to be abortion that’s going to be the flash point. The flash point’s not going to be that. Did you notice the recent research released on Friday that more people are pro-life in America for the first time in years then pro-abortion? Wow 51%. An enormous disconnect in the way American’s think however, and I won’t go there. But in all that, listen carefully, the flash point now will be gay marriage.

Isn’t it amazing? All the counsel that our President will get, all the advice that our President will get, and all of the advice that Senators will receive about whether or not to confirm that nominee, however he or she may be, I wonder is there anyone in there life, is anybody in their life, and let me make it real clear, the President today, he’s, he’s, he’s not any different than the rest of them in my generation, is there anybody in their life that is saying, “What does God’s Word say? What does God’s Word say about the right kind of judge needs to be, or justice of the Supreme Court ought to be? What does God say?” Because this book is the only thing in the world that will show you what is right, and what is wrong. It’ll show you when you get misled, and it’ll show you how to get right and stay right. Man what a book.

Let me tell you, you young couple here, listen to me. Both of these folks were saved, baptized at the crosses. Let me tell you something, you made the greatest decision in your life, and you live your life by this book. You can count on this book. You can’t count on this church, you can’t count on your friends, but let me tell you about this book, you can count on this book because this book talks about a God you can count on in your life in the good, the bad, the ugly, the great, it doesn’t matter who you are. I want to tell you today there’s not a better book ever been written, never. It is not only a book that contains the Word of God, it is the book that IS the Word of God. And one of my mentors was a man named Adrianne Rodgers, you know what Dr. Rogers used to say before he went to heaven? “Folks, it’s not the book of the year, it’s the book of the ages.” All because of it’s inspiration, it’s profitability, and it’s absolute all sufficiency.
