Mom is 82 Years Old Today

Categories:Between Sundays

My Mom is 82 years of age today. Happy Birthday, Mom! She still works 40 hours a week, even though in late April the place where she has been employed is closing, so Mom may really move into retirement once and for all. She still mows her yard most weeks and is quite remarkable physically.

However, Mom is now on chemotherapy shots for a pre-leukemia condition. She takes the shots once a day for seven days in a row, then she is off for three weeks. All of this time, she has continued working except for a few days initially. Please pray for her as she enters this new season in her life.

Mom is one special person, loved by all of us. She is the core of our family at large and so loved by each child, grandchild, and great grandchild. As a side note – we all love her chicken fried steak–it is awesome! My boys would drive to Texas tonight to eat it from her table.

Therefore, please pray for my Mom. Mom, we love you and pray for you daily. Happy Birthday Mom!

I know what a joy it is to have parents still with us. My daddy is 93 and my mother is 95. They still live in their house they built in 1950 in Hot Springs. They attend Park Place Baptist Church most Sundays. Daddy started going to church there when he was 7 years old. He joined at age 12. I suspect there aren’t many people in the world who have attended the same church for that many years – except for WWII when the church always prayed for him, especially during the time he was in a German prison camp. What a joy they are to me and my sisters!

I would to meet her and tell her what a wonderful job she did raising a Son like you! What a joy it is to have a Son who serves the Lord.
