Great Biblical Preaching

Dr. Mac Brunson, a great biblical preacher, just hosted a conference for pastors in his church, the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Florida. His predecessors began the conference years ago and the tradition created through the years is remarkable. Dr. Brunson asked me to preach at this conference as well as host a Q and A time about the Great Commission Resurgence. Dr. Johnny Hunt, Dr. Danny Akin, and Dr. Al Mohler joined me for the forum.

As I attended the conference (once I completed my session), I participated eagerly, asking God to speak to me each time. I was so encouraged by the great biblical preaching that occurred. Be encouraged, men of God are preaching the Word of God.

I heard fabulous messages by Dr. Danny Akin, Dr. Ted Traylor, and Dr. Johnny Hunt. Each one of these men operated in their unique giftedness to communicate the message of God. They did not sound alike or “preach alike,” but they preached the same word, the Word of God. Preaching is not and cannot be great unless the Word of God is preached. Each of them was faithful to the text expositionally, each challenged us spiritually, and each one did it through the personality God has blessed them with for life and ministry.

By the way, God’s people responded to the Word of God. Churches like First Church in Jacksonville love the Word of God. They would throw you out if you did not preach it! Therefore when it is preached, it is powerful.

There is nothing like the Word of God being preached by men of God who are under the unction of the Holy Spirit of God. I am so appreciative of the men I heard personally, the other men who I know were faithful to do the same that I did not get to hear, and for a pastor like Dr. Mac Brunson who is a model of great biblical preaching to all of us.

My heart is always ignited through great biblical preaching. Thank God for great men of God who preach the Word of God under the unction of the Holy Spirit of God.
