Theology is Critical to the Church
Yesterday at our Annual Staff Advance, we spent an entire afternoon with Dr. Danny Akin talking about theology. You see, I am convicted that in this pluralistic and diverse culture, never has there been a greater need for theology to be taught to our staff team and people more than today. Theological clarity and purity is absolutely essential to what we believe. We must know what we believe and why we believe it.
I have been so convicted over this past year of our deep need for training our staff team to think theologically. If we want to be faithful to God’s calling, we must “love God with our minds” as much as we love God with our hearts.
Dr. Akin talked boldly about this with our team. We must be able to think and to articulate the Word of God. Please remember the incredible need for you to pray with us. This week is critical to the life of our fellowship. I gave my presentation to our team today. We have much to work through in the days to come. There will be a day when I share it with our people.
Finally, please know of my commitment to pray for you. You are a great people and we need each of you in the life of our fellowship. We are a family, and it is just does not feel right when the family is not all together. We are nearing the end of summer, so we look with great anticipation to the time when our family will be back together.
