Monday Is Memorial Day
On Monday, we celebrate an important holiday in the history of our country, Memorial Day. This day is a day of remembrance. We remember those who have served our country since it’s founding, those who have given their lives for our freedom, those who have sacrificed for the great country in which we live.
Memorial day officially began as Decoration Day, after the Civil War. It was a day when families would place flowers and other decorations on the graves of those who had died in the War. Over the years, the official date has changed and the day has grown to include those who died in all American wars.
As you travel this weekend, gather with friends and family, or attend a sporting event, I encourage you to remember what this holiday is really about, remembering the soldiers that have given their lives for the United States of America.
Have a great Memorial Day.
