Concerned For The Future Of America
After the last few days, I have developed a fresh burden for the future of our nation. In this racing political climate, baptized with concerns over America’s future in Iraq, and fear beginning to emerge over the nation’s economy, we are in for some defining days. When you take all of these things and try to discern what is truth in this media world, there is much confusion in our nation.
Let me make it really clear before I share more, I still believe the one true hope in America is a major spiritual revival and awakening. Yet even though I believe it and pray for it daily, we still live in a real world with real problems. While I await the answering of this prayer, we are confronted with matters that require our decision-making, like the coming Presidential election, the nation’s economy, and the global war on terrorism.
While I am an evangelical and do believe we need leaders in our nation who are committed to the teachings of the Bible related to social matters, I am also concerned about other real life issues. These issues are not going away without the intervention of God and leaders navigating through these challenging waters with the wisdom of God.
I want to challenge you to join me in something. Since the first of 2007, I have prayed daily for the upcoming Presidential election. I have asked God to raise up His leader for our nation at this time. Yes, it is an American privilege and right to be involved in the political processes, but it is also a privilege to talk to God about it daily.
Matters are critical in America and the world. While political candidates and political parties will “war with each other” continually over the future of America, I am so glad my future is not in them or the processes, but the God of Heaven who lifts up one and puts down the other.
