Experiencing the Presence of God Again!

Categories:Between Sundays

Summer has finally moved in and taken over our lives! That’s not all that bad, especially when you realize that the next season upcoming is the fall and with it…football! In the midst of your summer activities, I want to revisit some foundational truths that have proved to be a spiritually refreshing time for my own personal life. Every season of the year welcomes the reality of experiencing God. Many of you have just walked through these truths with me at one of our services, but whether you have or not, I have really been impressed to recapture some basis principles concerning experiencing His presence in our lives. So, let me invite you to join me for the next few days as we revisit Gods’ Word for our lives.

Let me guide us each day by using the following markers:

Recapturing What God Has Taught Us
Understanding What That Means Personally
Acting On What God Has Said to Us

This new outline will guide us beginning tomorrow, but as I close today let me remind us of two basic concepts.

1. Our Chinese pastor, Brother Yun, told us that “Revival is the presence of God!” Just think; you and I can know God…we can experience His presence in our lives. He is not some silent statue that we must visit. God is a person, and we can know Him because He has offered to us His grace and love. You are not alone. As His child you can clearly understand and experience His expression of love in your life right now. No need for an appointment, no need to “wait your turn;” just turn to Him right where you are and thank Him for being available to you every day…every moment of your life.

2. I want to remind you of the passage of scripture over in the book of 2 Chronicles chapter number 7. In 2 Chronicles chapter number 7, I want to bring your attention to two verses of scripture, verse 13-14. The scripture says from the English Standard Version, “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, if my people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and I will heal their land.” Experiencing God’s presence is certainly available but can be interrupted by our own sin or simply our own indifference. I am praying for you in these days that God will create within all of our hearts a burning passion to experience His presence. May this be our prayer…

“Oh God, please arrest our attention and create a hunger and thirst for You this summer.”
