Where has the commitment to prayer gone in the lives of so many Christ-followers? Time is made for everything under the sun, from work to family to recreation to the complete wasting of time. Yet there is little commitment to prayer by so many followers of Jesus Christ.

Where has the commitment to prayer gone from our churches? Most churches make time for music, for preaching-teaching, for announcements, for giving, but what about prayer? Jesus stated to us that He wants His house to be a “house of prayer for all the nations.” Praying has taken a back seat in the worship services of America, being replaced by outward acts of worship, which would become so much more genuine if saturated in prayer. While political activists get on their stumps denouncing the thought of prayer being removed from our schools, churches sit on their hands in worship, moving towards limited dependence on God through prayer. The result: forms of godliness portrayed but denying the power of God. Therefore, in our churches, criticism overrides compassion; apathy replaces service; and the cleverness of man is applauded while the altars are vacant of genuine repentance and revival.

Until the commitment to prayer returns, we will see limited movement of God in our midst. God responds to His people praying. When we are involved in a genuine seeking of God through prayer, He does not sit on the Throne in Heaven acting as though He does not hear us.
