Time Change Reminds Me…

Categories:Between Sundays

Each time we forward our clocks one hour I am reminded:

  • How human I am: I am a frail and limited being physically.
  • How routine our bodies function: Yesterday morning did not
bother me near as much as this morning.
  • How I need rest: Rest is good for me, and it is a gift from God
    for me to enjoy.
  • How Great God is: He is never affected by anything so trivial as
a time change, especially since He is the Maker of all time.

Yes, God is great: Have A Great Week!

Big Time Change Weekend

On Saturday night before you retire to bed, MOVE YOUR CLOCK FORWARD 1 HOUR. Yes, it is time to lose that precious hour of sleep that you will not regain until October! I will see you on Sunday morning ON TIME in Worship.

Nick and Meredith are coming to see us for a couple of nights. They have not been home for a while, so we will enjoy seeing them, even though they will return to Dallas on Saturday. Pray for their safety as they travel this afternoon and evening.

Peyton spent last night with us again. He was in one great mood and we enjoyed him much. Josh and Kate are in Hot Springs preparing for our Shiloh Girls playing for the State Championship in Basketball tonight at 7:00 p.m.

May God’s favor be on our Shiloh Girls Basketball Team as they play for the State Championship at 7:00 p.m. This is the first time ever that one of our basketball teams has played for the state championship. This is a great accomplishment for our school. For those that may live in another state who check out my blog: In the state of Arkansas, our Christian, private school competes with public schools. Therefore, for us to play on this level is a huge accomplishment. Just as our Football Team won the State Championship in December in Little Rock, may our girls basketball team do so tonight in Hot Springs.

Have you heard? Move your clock forward one hour on Saturday night before you go to bed.

Our Shiloh Basketball Teams

This 2006-07 Basketball Season has been a really special one for the Shiloh Christian Saints basketball teams. I am very proud of them and their coaches. God has blessed us with some outstanding talent.

Our Boys Basketball Team missed going to the State Championship Game by only 3 points last Saturday night. It was a thriller, but ended up in defeat. They dominated the entire season, but lost the game on Saturday night. Coach Brad Stamps and his team deserve much praise and they are CHAMPIONS. Congratulations Coach Stamps and team.

Our Girls Basketball Team will play for THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP ON THURSDAY NIGHT AT 7:00 P.M. IN HOT SPRINGS. They are loaded with talent and believe it or not, they will be loaded with a lot of talent for a while. Coach Vic Rimmer and our girls are CHAMPIONS already, regardless of the outcome Thursday night. They are a fun team to watch and have been so strong all year. God’s blessings on you Coach Rimmer and team on Thursday night. We are so proud of you and are behind you all the way!

This is an extraordinary year for Shiloh in academic and athletic achievement. We are so very blessed and the future is so bright. We can credit our Leadership Team directed by Ben Mayes, with members, Katrina Foley, Greg Jones, and Josh Floyd. This foursome is growing the school and planning for a banner year in 2007-08.

Shiloh Christian School is committed to provide for your children a fabulous education and a fun experience!

Last Night

Last night I had the joy of hanging out with many students from our ministry who are attending Liberty University. It was a great experience, of which I was most grateful. We had at least 10 of our students present; others could not due to classes or work. As well, we hosted three or four others who were close friends of our students.

Be encouraged: the future of America is in great hands if these students continue on the paths they are on right now. I am so very proud of each of them. They are enthusiastic about their faith, their future, and where God has them right now at Liberty University. In just the group with me last night, we had those who are entering the fields of economics, marketing, ministry, law, aviation, and more. Be ever encouraged, God is preparing the next generation for greatness.

I was able to have some private time with Dr. Jerry Falwell yesterday before lunch, and also had lunch with him along with a couple of others who work at Liberty. Additionally, I was with him for over two hours yesterday driving around the Liberty Mountain, overlooking as well as observing the miraculous vision God is bringing to pass. It is absolutely amazing and quite honestly, astounding. Thank God for a man who had a vision and understood that the only real investment to insure long-term change in our culture is an investment in the next generation.

I will attend our board meeting this morning at Liberty University. It will be concluded by the extraordinary dedication of “The Supreme Courtroom” of our two-year-old Law School, now led by my friend Mat Staver, who we had in our church last year. Following this, I will board a plane for home.

Pray for me today.

I Am Here at Liberty University

Yesterday afternoon I boarded a plane and arrived in time to speak at the great Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia, for Dr. Jerry Falwell. This church just moved into a new 6,000 seat worship center last year and according to all reports is exploding. God is rewarding the faithfulness of His leader, Jerry Falwell. I shared the Word of God with those people last night, and then had dinner with a close friend of Dr. Falwell’s, Duke Westover. Duke has served Dr. Falwell for many, many years just taking care of the details of his life. Thank God for men like Duke. He just loves his Pastor and takes care of all of his basic needs relating to schedule and details.

This morning I speak at 10:00 EST at the Liberty University Convocation Service. This amazing university, now at just under 10,000 students on campus here in Lynchburg, has transformed so much in the past few years. Not only it is exploding in students, but it is a testimony to the vision of a leader, the commitment to the Great Commission, the giving of God’s people, and the contagious spirit of these students. Following my engagement there, I will have lunch with Dr. Jerry Falwell. This is always a privilege and I count it as such for me and our church to be engaged with such a dynamic university. Following my time with Dr. Falwell, I will tape a one-hour television show with his son, Jonathan. When that is completed, I am in meetings with some major Christian leaders concerning reaching North America,
followed by dinner with all of our church’s students who attend Liberty University and there are many of them.

On Tuesday morning, I will attend our board meeting, as I am on the Board of Trustees for Liberty University. This group of 36 men and women comes from all over the country and consists of some of America’s most dynamic Christian leaders, including Tim and Beverly LaHaye. It is alway energizing. As Chairman of the Committee for the Liberty Theological Seminary, I work closely with Dr. Ergun Caner. He is a scholar and a great man of God. There are few places in this
world that ignite my vision; however, every time I come here, my vision is expanded greatly. This entire work is such a powerful testimony to the power of Jesus Christ.

Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. I board a plane to come home. I have been on a short run the past 10 days, with preaching on Sundays, carrying on details of our ministry, attending two board meetings which I serve as a trustee to both, and engaged heavily in matters of life. God is good and I am grateful for these opportunities, but I always have in my heart …

There is no place like home.

While In Dallas This Week

Categories:Between Sundays

While in Dallas this week for our meetings at GuideStone Financial Services, we got to see Nick and Meredith. This was a good experience.
It is obvious the Lord is blessing their lives and their work for Christ at the Prestonwood Church and their new work in Prosper.

Meredith is "very pregnant," with the baby projected to arrive on May 21st. She is leaving today to go to Florida for the weekend. Some of her friends are giving her a baby shower in Sebring, her home city, just an hour or so south of Orlando. She will be there until Tuesday. Nick and Meredith have arrived at a name for the baby (99% certain) but will wait until they are 100% certain to share it. It is a cool name.

Nick is working hard, as well as taking 12 hours of seminary this semester for his Master’s Degree. He attends all day Monday from 8:00 in the morning until 9:00 at night, spending the weekends studying, while still accomplishing his responsibiilties at church each weekend. It is a grind, but a blessing.

Pray for them. Watching their lifestyles brings back the memories of so many other couples paying a heavy price to prepare for giving their lives to the field of ministry in reaching the world for Christ. Pray for them when the Lord brings them to your mind. Pray for their needs to be met in every way as these couples face enormous challenges before them. They know and will discover more and more …

God is faithful.
